Accelerating COVID-19 Drug Discovery: Qualified Assays for Proinflammatory Cytokines

COVID-19 has been declared a global pandemic by WHO. The disease is transmitted when the SARS-CoV-2 virus infects the respiratory tract and in severe cases leads to acute respiratory distress syndrome. However the high mortality rate in COVID-19 patients has been linked to cytokine release syndrome, commonly referred to as cytokine storm, which is an excessive and dysregulated production of proinflammatory cytokines by the body’s immune system. Currently there are hundreds of active clinical programs focused on developing and repurposing therapeutic drugs for treatment of COVID-19.

In this webinar, we will highlight how Eurofins DiscoverX functional cell-based assays are supporting these programs, particularly in managing proinflammatory cytokines associated with high mortality rate in COVID-19 patients.
