Regenerative Design: Breathable Architecture & Resilient Cities
April 07, 2022

We have always looked to nature for design inspiration. Now we’re also designing with and for nature. Building on decades of expertise in sustainable design, our design focus is expanding to encompass regenerative design. It’s no longer enough to focus only on minimizing the impact of our built environment. Instead, we need to use design as a positive force. Regenerative Design engages the nature of place as the driver for design. It follows through the emulation of natural systems that exist within a region, inspires reconnection of the community to nature, and aims to create mutualistic benefits between nature, building, and people.

Learning Objectives:

  • Transform cities’ relationship with nature to create a positive impact for society, the economy, and the ecosystem.
  • Understand the methodologies of regenerative design and how natural systems can be established as a core driver of both project development and organizational growth.
  • Leverage whole systems thinking and goal setting to enhance the integrative design and engagement process.
  • Apply Biomimicry thinking and environmental performance standards to design with nature as a partner; integrate natural services, support human health and wellbeing, and shift to a carbon positive roadmap.

This webinar is anticipated to offer AIA an GBCI Credit, with final credits pending approval from accreditation bodies.
