Revealing Why We Invested 5 million USD In the Novel Intelligent Production Line of Water-Soluble Fertilizers and Exploring How Clients Benefit, Especially During the COVID-19 Period
3pm BST / 4pm CEST / 10am EST
China was hit by COVID-19 just before the long holiday of Chinese New Year, and so many workers of Fondin have been stuck in the hometown by the lockdown for months. The clients were surprised that Fondin coped well with this emergency with the stable manufacturing and delivery of the quality products on time in such difficult circumstance. The essential factor of this achievement is the novel intelligent automatic production line of water-soluble fertilizer, developed by Fondin, and officially put into operation in 2019. Delivery of the raw materials into the preparation tank, automatic pre-processing, accurate formulating, efficient transportation, intelligent mixing, efficient automatic packaging and stacking, online detection, intelligent dust removal system, precise environmental control, all these production processes integrate perfectly in the new system.
The new system greatly improves production efficiency and reduces cost, while enhancing product stability, so that our clients could enjoy the cost-effective products. To know more about how this novel production system would benefit your business, please join us in Digital Week: China Solutions.

From Research to Product Development of Biostimulants Products in China: Product Innovation, Technology & Investment
Optimization of Seaweed Extraction Through Using Specific Endonuclease and Its Advantages
2pm BST / 3pm CEST / 9am EST
Seaweed extract as the biostimulant or fertilizer has been applied in agriculture for nearly a century. Fondin has been devoted to the research of seaweed application in agriculture for years. We noticed that many conventional seaweed products are made in alkali hydrolysis which has the vital flaw that part of the endogenous hormones of seaweed will be destroyed by the high temperature and strong alkali to reduce the activity of the extract. And another challenge is that, the seaweed polysaccharide extracted by this method has larger molecular and poor compatibility (for example, it forms insoluble matter with calcium ions), which will affect the absorption of divalent metal ions by crops. Therefore, we have developed enzymatic hydrolysis of seaweed to break the cell wall in a mild environment with compound enzymes. At the same time, special functional enzymes further degrade seaweed polysaccharides, and significantly improve the compatibility and efficacy.

Successful Mass Production and Applications of Broad-Spectrum Fungal Pesticides
3pm BST / 4pm CEST / 10am EST
Fungal pesticides have great potential in controlling of pest insects, plant diseases, weeds and vector insects of human diseases. More than 200 products of fungal pesticides have been registered worldwide. However, most fungal pesticides fail in mass production after about half century’s attempts. Fungal spores are typically manually produced by liquid-solid two-phase systems, resulting in poor quality and high cost. Recently, however, successful mass production (>10,000 ton/year) of fungal pesticides has been achieved, with costs similar to chemical pesticides.
Mass production has been coupled to breakthroughs in strain breeding that has resulted in the isolation of two broad spectrum strains, Metarhizium anisopliae CQMa 421 and Beauveria bassiana ZJU435. M. anisopliae CQMa 421 was initially isolated for control all the main pest insects of rice with no adverse effects on natural enemies. Mass testing and field application showed that this strain was highly infective to more than 30 pest insects tested belonging to 7 orders in different developmental stages. Large-scale field trails have shown that there are no differences in yield between use of CQMa 421 versus chemical pesticides in rice and many other crops even though the efficacy and insect killing speed were significantly lower using the fungus. Similar results have also been seen in controlling root pest insects in peanut and sugarcane with the granules of CQMa 421. B. bassiana ZJU435 was isolated for control of pest mites, it also kills pest insects of 3 orders including Orthoptera, Coleoptera and Orthoptera.
The application techniques of the two fungal pesticides were optimized in different crops. Reliable and cost-effective mass production coupled with the identification of the two broad spectrum fungal strains can greatly improve the application of fungal pesticides. These advances significantly improve the prospects for successful large-scale field application of fungi in pest control.
