Environmental benefits of urease inhibitors and information on safe use
9am EDT / 1pm GMT/ 2pm CET

Research has confirmed urease inhibitors can play a vital role in meeting the targets of the European Farm to Fork strategy. A significant reduction of ammonia and CO2 equivalents emissions as well as the improvement of nitrogen use efficiency suggest a broader adoption of urease inhibitors to lower external costs and to improve the return of investment of urea use. Countries like Germany and Denmark have made the use of urease inhibitors mandatory and other EU member states are considering similar proposals; however some questions have been raised regarding the tradeoffs associated with increased inhibitor use. Based on NBPT ecotoxity data it will be demonstrated that a more widespread use of urease inhibitors can be a major positive environmental contributor while creating very few hazards to the environment and consumers. Occupational exposure and the fate of NBPT after application of NBPT inhibited urea will be discussed to illustrate the positive environmental impact and safe use by professional users.

Controlled Release Fertilizers with embedded growth enhancers improve plant establishment and nutrient use efficiency
10am EDT / 2pm GMT/ 3pm CET

Controlled Release Fertilizers (CRF) are more and more used in field grown applications for specialty agriculture and forestry crops. These coated fertilizers offer a predictable and consistent release of nutrients over a specific time period. Since the amount of nutrients released daily is controlled and in line with plant uptake requirements, CRFs are an ideal tool to reduce nutrient losses and optimize the Nutrient Use Efficiency (NUE).

Application of CRF in the planting hole of perennial crops (e.g. fruit trees and forestry seedlings) provides a cost effective single treatment resulting in, quicker development and growth, and, therefore, shortening the time to maturity. Under these conditions, CRF does not cause increased salinity in the planting hole and provides nutrient release over many months (typically 6 months or more of effective nutrient release).

To further improve root establishment and seedling growth, ICL developed a unique combination of CRFs with specific embedded growth enhancers (ICL’s V-Factor technology). In various controlled experiments, we found that the addition of the embedded growth enhancer significantly improved growth in Eucalyptus, Picea and vine grape plants up to 20%.

ICL developed this new product using both technologies of CRF and growth enhancers under the brand name Agroblen (+ V-Factor Technology).

Exploring The Power of Color in Controlled Release Fertilizer Applications
8am EDT / 12pm GMT/ 1pm CET

Don’t underestimate the power of color. It can stir consumer emotions, communicate key product characteristics, and provide a strong link to brand loyalty. Color is utilized heavily as a visual cue to a user and helps to indicate the presence of an application to a particular location. It is also used to identify and differentiate product brands, grades and formulations. Join Milliken & Company as we explore the value of color in controlled release fertilizer applications. We will discuss the many benefits that color brings to formulators and end-users, common challenges associated with traditional colorant technologies and finally we will introduce Milliken’s novel Liquitint® Agro non-staining, non-dusting liquid colorants for fertilizers.

How nitrogen stabilizers contribute to climate protection
9am EDT / 1pm GMT/ 2pm CET

Agriculture contributes to 9.9% of greenhouse gas emissions. The soil releases nitrous oxide after mineral and organic fertilizer are applied. Nitrous oxide is a very potent climate gas that is formed by soil bacteria that are involved in the nitrification process of N fertilizers. Nitrification and urease inhibitors can reduce the N2O emission significantly and increase crop yield and quality. The presentation includes practical examples from BASF´s Limus® and Vibelsol®.

At the forefront of Urea condensation technology: a viable option for all fertilizer manufacturer
10am EDT / 2pm GMT/ 3pm CET

Since the late ninetins, The Mauro Saviola Group have been conducting intensive research programs introducing a radical development in the urea-condensated technology, re-launching in the fertilizer industry a sustainable Slow Release Nitrogen source (SRN) thanks to an innovative manufacturing process that enable syncrony between the release of nutrient and plants capcity to uptake Nitrogen that otherways is lost in air and watergrounds with a negative impact in our environment. The speach aims to share knowledge and exchange information with representatives of the fertilizer industry regarding different technologies and products and would focus the training to feature the SRN (Slow Release Nitrogen ) group of products within the EEF category (Enhanced Efficiency Fertilizer ) to attract the interest of producers seeking to diversify their fertilizer product range. This session will provide basic knowledge on the production of these fertilizers and on their use as an effective means of increasing crop productivity.

The session is designed for professionals working in the fertilizer industry and its stakeholders to gain knowledge in Slow Release Urea based condensated products and their advantages versus other technologies, including executives, senior managers, and those involved in areas of production, environment and research and specifically:

  • Provide participants with information on Slow-Release, Urea reacted products.
  • Examine the status of the most recent technology trends in the production of Slow-Release.
  • Provide an opportunity to exchange ideas with experts and training participants
  • Highlight and virtually visit the bigger and most recent SRN facilities at MAURO SAVIOLA GROUP in Viadana ( Mn) Italy.
  • Increase understanding of the policy and regulatory issues around Enahanced Efficiency Fertilizers ( EEF’s)
